We were commissioned to design a refurbishment of a grade II listed warehouse. The space needed to accommodate a professional design space while celebrating the industrial heritage of the building.

The project uses simple additions to highlight the existing features of the building and create a variety of light and airy spaces.

The office is mechanically ventilated to maintain a comfortable working environment. Natural ventilation was discounted due to the local air quality and noise form vehicles on the adjacent cobbled street.

No ceiling finish was provided in the main open plan studio space which required careful co-ordination of the ventilation, lighting and other services but enhanced the industrial aesthetic.

“Designing an studio space for your own office is always a challenge – all staff were keen to contribute to the process and influence the design.”
